People have no choice but amazement. Will he come back again? He may have flied into the past, falling among the blood-drinking, hairy savages in the Old Stone Age, into the abysses of Cretaceous Sea, or among the strange-shaped saurians, the huge reptiles in the Jurassic Period. He may even now---if I can say so---wander on some plesiosaurus-haunted Oolitic coral reefs, or along the lonely saline seaside in the Triassic Age. Will he fly forward, into a nearer era, in which people are still people, answers to the myth of our own era are found, and the disgusting and difficult problems are solved. Or he flied into the adulthood of mankind, for I personally hold that in the nearer era, experiments were weak, theories were fragmented, people were not in harmony with each other, so it was not an era at all when mankind reached the pinnacle. What I say is my own opinion. I know, this question had been discussed long before the birth of Time Machine. He took a pessimistic view on mankind’s progress, and regarded growing pile of civilization as the accumulation of foolishness, which will fall down upon and completely destroy its creators in the end. If so,we still have to live on as if nothing had happened. But for me, future is still dark and unknown to me, only lightened at several casual places by his memorable stories. What consoles me is that I have two special white flowers---now withered and dried---to prove that gratitude and mutual tenderness still live on in the heart of mankind even if mind and body fade away.
